My Beloved T-shirt/Memory Quilt

My first "grown-up quilt" for myself was a memory t-shirt quilt. I saved every bit of t-shirts for many years. Every cross-country, soccer, pep-rally, homecoming, and sports jerseys that I was allowed to keep went into a bag to be saved.  When I first started to look at t-shirt quilt designs, everyone seemed to take a few prized shirts and display them with fabric boarders in between. My problem with that was that ALL my t-shirts had memories behind them, so how could I choose just nine or twelve of the t-shirts from my collection? I began to cut out all the important parts and I saved every emblem, number, and name that I could. Some of my t-shirts only had a little embroidered emblem that I wanted to save, but those emblems were extremely important to me.

My prized possession! This was the "piecing" stage of my geometric t-shirt quilt.
Sorry the picture is not the best, this was 2011 or 2012 and much prior to the blog.

Here the binding was pinned on and ready to be sewn.
The family Chihuahua was eyeing my quilt.

Since I don't own a twin bed right now, the quilt is unfortunately packed away until I figure out some way to display it. One of my long term goals is to eventually have a quilt rack in my bedroom to showcase my hard work.

The finished project!

It's perfect! The only thing I wish I would've done differently, is choose a lighter weight interfacing.
It is so not a summer blanket.
