Personalized Towels

Something that was a tradition in my family, was embroidering names on a towel (most likely a beach towel). As I got ready to pack for vacation at the end of July, I knew which towel I'd take to the lake (my name towel of course!) but I realized that my partner had not yet been brought up to speed with the tradition.  I set out to make him one, and found a nice soft, cheap towel at BB&B.

I had a hard time picking out fabric for the letters and raided my stash for quite some time, but I ended up picking the most masculine option I had... deer! I wanted enough contrast that you'd be able to see the name but not so much that it clashed with the towel.

After I picked out the fabric, I wonder-undered the material and cut out the letters by hand. I used to cut letters out for my mom when I was younger by hand too. I hate stencils, because they just end up complicating the process. Instead, I always start out with a square or rectangle of fabric and cut boxy letters from there. And here is the finished product! I am loving the colors together and this was super quick and well worth making sure the towel comes home with us after our adventure.
