The tie blanket

Oh, the tie blanket. We've all done them because they're so darn easy! This was a special blanket I made for my father for Christmas 2013. I made sure it was extra wide and 2.5 yards long (he's a little over 6ft tall) and I have not heard the end of how much he LOVES this blanket to this day! If you ever need a warm gift for the holidays and can hold up in a room for a day with some sharp scissors, this is the project for you!

Last winter when fleece started to go on sale, I made myself a tie blanket using a different technique. I really wanted something to go with the blue and yellow theme I had in my living room/kitchen/dinning room combo and these were the perfect fabrics. This technique was a heck of a lot faster because I wasn't spending as much time tying. I think I had this blanket done in about 2 hours. The hardest part was keeping my dogs off as I cut the blanket on the floor.

I love the bright yellow that this blanket brings to my very beige living-room.
And since I can't paint because I am renting, this is a wonderful option.

The blue backing is peaking out here!

This technique threads loops through one another. It is a little less neat when
it comes to the raw edges, but I finished this blanket in a little over two hours
rather than a day or a day and a half.
I just love how simple tie blankets are, and they are the warmest too!! What other techniques have you learned about besides the traditional "tie" method?
