Garden Love from My Little Townhouse Lot

Last summer my partner and I moved into our townhouse in mid-June and I did not have time, or even slight thoughts, of having a garden. I was just starting life as an adult, working 40 hours a week in a brand new job and attempting to move all my worldly possessions from many different places and organize it into the new space. However, I've always grown up either helping my parents or my grandparents in the garden. One of my favorite activities when I was little, was helping grandpa pick blackberries, red raspberries and golden raspberries (so delicious!!). Last summer, my partner's dad gave me a tomato plant as a house warming gift, but I'm sad to say that I'm not even sure that I enjoyed a single tomato from it :(

Well this year I am determined to have a fruitful crop! I've spent many hours growing plants (some from seed even, like my zucchini, bell peppers, basil, and oregano) moving them back and forth from my dining table to the patio to get sun or to avoid cold weather, and cultivating them now that it is warm enough to start my garden. I'm so excited to actually have something worth showing! I have tomatoes, herbs, peppers and zucchini that I cannot wait to use! I also have a couple mosquito/bug repellent plants including a couple citronella plants and marigolds.

One of two citronella plants

My tomatoes with basil in the base! We just got a lot of rain so they are going crazy

Bell peppers, with some paper that will hopefully help me weed less (this area was particularly bad).

Herbs! Lemon balm, lavender, rosemary and oregano.

My mint is in it's own hanging basket, like the other herbs will be in soon hopefully.

And, I've finished my cutesie garden fence (aka I used my stock of wine bottles for a cheap, re-purposed eclectic look). I didn't have a fence for a while and woke to find one of my zucchini plants completely removed from the soil and laying next to it's former spot.

Loving my little garden

Here is the whole garden! Just a little baby garden :)

Unfortunately my crafting and sewing has taken a back seat, but now that everything is planted, I'm hoping to get back on track with my laundry list of projects to be completed!!
