Finding Other Bloggers

Like I mentioned in one of my first posts, I have really been into the whole blog thing lately. It's something simple that I can check in and read a few blogs at the beginning of my day or during lunch and read about some interesting things that are happening in other people's lives both near and far.  I've recently been getting some awesome ideas from blogs and found out that I can follow blogs through Blogger, the site that I use for this blog. WHAT? Easy access and the newsfeed is updated when people blog without me having to go search for them!? Sweet deal. I'm all about simplicity and I absolutely love to read!

One website I found through reading other people's blogs, is this quilter's blog index site. How cool is that!? Quilters can submit their blogs through a form and be a part of the thousands of other blogs that are easily accessible and searchable. (Update, I'm now on this index as of May 14, 2016!).

Another way that I have found some pretty cool blogs are from other bloggers. A lot of crafty/quilter blogs will give shout outs to other bloggers that they like or are working with. Or they link another blog who actually showcased whatever idea they are blogging about first. As I read someone's blog and they send me to a link, I'll open it up in a new tab. I don't always go through all the links right away, but often times those links have lead me to some really cool blogs. In addition, many bloggers have posts just like this one, who am I following and where do you go to follow them? We like to tickle each other's fancies in the blogger world.

Wonderful Pinterest, we're on it all the time repinning objects that we think are cool or interesting. But do you ever actually follow the link that you repin? I can't tell you how many times a link I went to repin actually went nowhere or to a site in some crazy language or was nowhere near relevant to the picture that it showed. Follow your links people! Don't "repin and read later" because the likelihood of that happening in the near future is slim to none. I try to do my best to follow every link I repin and since sites have their own pin-it buttons now, it is so easy to get the original link no matter how many blogs or websites I have to go through first to get it. And by following up with this process I find other cool or interesting blogs to follow! It's a win-win for me.

The final place that I have found other bloggers recently is through some quilt shops. I recently purchased the Pie Making Day collection from Pink Castle Fabrics. Through exploring that website I was able to find out that the particular fabric collection I like was designed by the owner of the shop. And in addition to the fact that the shop has a blog, the designer, Brenda Ratliff, has a blog as well! I obviously like her design taste since I purchased her collection so I follow her blog now too.

When all else fails and you really are interested in reviewing some new blogs, googling a particular subject matter and blog will result in hundreds of options from all over the web. We live in an exciting world people, time to get searching!!
